Organizational Tip of the Week

Week 6

By Macaroni Kid February 22, 2012

Each week I will feature an organizational tip of the week. These were all submitted by Macaroni Kid publishers from across the country. If you have an organizational tip to share, post a comment or send me a note at lauram@macaronikid.com

Week 6:

Kitchen: Refrigerator/Freezer Inventory

I have a friend who should be a personal organizer for a living. She cleans her cabinets and refrigerator every time before going to the grocery store so she knows what she has, what she needs and everything stays clean and organized! -Leslie Michel

From Laura: My husband and I work together cleaning out the refrigerator because I can't bear to do it by myself. We just did this Sunday and he suggested we try keeping inventory sheets, so I created some that you can use too (click on the pink text below). When you print, don't print gridlines or you will have extra boxes and lines where you do not need them.

When you place an item in your refrigerator/freezer, write the item on the line, then draw a slash in the box to indicate how many, then when you use it, slash in the other direction to cross it off. For leftovers, write what it is, then put the date you made it in the box. You can even put a use by date in one of the boxes, then cross it off when you use it.
