Properly disposing of unused prescription medications is an important step in preventing contamination of the environment as well as preventing prescription drug abuse. The best way to dispose of most medications is at a take back site.
Every year the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) hosts National Prescription Drug Take Back Day where anyone can drop off their unused medications to be properly disposed of. The next Take Back Day is October 28, 2023. Some police stations in our area are hosting an event, while many others have drop boxes available year round.
