Quick and Easy Apple Crisp

My family loves apples! I often buy some thinking that I'll make something special with them, but then I never seem to have time and then we just eat all of the apples! But that's ok because we all want our kids to enjoy healthy snacks too.

Since I can't seem to keep fresh apples in stock at home long enough to make something, I came up with an easy way to make an apple treat using a can of apple pie filling so I can keep the pie filling on hand and whip this recipe up in a flash.

This quick and easy apple crisp made just enough for our family of 4 to enjoy a special treat. You can use the oat topping on any fruit pie filling or even just over fresh diced fruit for a lower sugar version.

Ingredients

  • 1 can pie filling (we used apple)
  • 1 cup quick cook oats
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp butter, melted
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp cinnamon, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Spread the pie filling in a small glass baking dish.
  3. Mix the rest of the ingredients together until well combined and the sugar and butter coat the oats.
  4. Spread the topping over the pie filling and smooth the top.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes or until the oats turn golden brown.

Serve warm with ice cream or whipped topping, if desired. If there are any leftovers, they are delicious cold too.
