Hortonville Library Introduces... Story Ride!

Part of the "Meet in the Middle" Family Bike Ride

By Rachel M. Martens, Library Director, Hortonville Public Library May 19, 2017

The Hortonville Public Library has announced a fun new family event called Story Ride!

The Story Ride is a children's bike ride in coordination with the "Meet in the Middle Family Bike Ride" on Sunday, May 21st.

The Meet in the Middle Ride takes place on the Wiouwash Trail that runs from Hortonville to Oshkosh and the event has starting points at each end, with a goal for cyclists to meet in the middle.

The Story Ride, which is being put on by our Friends of the Hortonville Library group and library staff, makes up the first mile and a half of the north end of the ride and is geared towards young children. There will be signage featuring beloved children's book characters bicycling to encourage kids to make it to the 1.5 mile marker and back.

Children who complete the three-mile round-trip trek will receive prizes from the Friends of the Library, who will be stationed, along with a naturalist from Mosquito Hill Nature Center, at one of the detention ponds near the trailhead.

This event will be a fun way to encourage kids to get outside and be active, as well as to encourage literacy as a kick-off to the Summer Reading Program.
