Create a custom snowman greeting card, perfect for any wintery card-giving opportunity, from birthdays, to get well wishes, or even housewarming greetings, you can write anything you'd like inside! You can even write a card just for fun to send to a loved one far away.
I gave my 4-year-old all of the parts for these cards and let her put it all together in her own way. I thought they turned out super cute! (Double the parts in "what you need" to make two cards, as shown.) We gave them to her teachers along with their Christmas gifts.
What you need
- 1 piece of white card stock, cut in half (short way)
- 1 black square approx same size as the width of the half-piece of card stock when folded in half
- 1 black strip slightly wider than the black square
- 1 small orange triangle for the nose
- 2 small black circles for eyes (I used my hole punch)
- More black circles for mouth and buttons, or use stickers for buttons and draw the mouth with a pen/marker
- 1 festive pipe cleaner that is long enough to wrap around the folded cardstock and leave ends like a scarf
- 1 sticker, button, or another embellishment for the hat
- glue stick
What you do
1. Hand the parts, except the pipe cleaner, over to the kids and see what they make, or use the photo above as a guide. Make sure they understand that they should glue the parts to the front of the card and not to glue the card shut.
2. Write your sentiment inside, either before they glue or once the card has dried a bit. We simply wrote "Happy Holidays" for her teachers and then she wrote her name.
3. Wrap the pipe cleaner around the card, bringing the ends to the front, then twist to close.
Note: I drew a line across the front of the card where the scarf would go so that my daughter would leave space between the mouth and buttons for it.
