Latest News from MK Appleton-Stevens Point

By Laura Miller July 25, 2012

Hi everyone,

How was your week? Today is the first birthday of Macaroni Kid Appleton-Stevens Point! Check back next week to see if I came up with a fun way to celebrate-- this week we're focusing on the Cookies for Kids Cancer bake sale that I'm putting on Saturday, so that amazing charity comes first!! This last year sure went fast and the site has come a loooong way from the very first newsletter with one article, seven events and FIVE subscribers!! If you have any ideas for how to celebrate let me know (and remember that this is a one-momma show here, so I can't get toooo crazy!)

The winner of the $25 gift certificate for Heal My Sole's online store is entry number 5 - Melissa N! Congratulations and look for an email from me (besides the newsletter).

This week I'm happy to welcome our newest sponsor Trisha Weyenberg, Independent Consultant with Arbonne. See her ad to the right to place an order or request a catalog. Be sure to mention Macaroni Kid to receive free shipping! Don't forget to check out what our other sponsors have to offer too!

This week we have details on the Cookies for Kids Cancer bake sale on Saturday and the charity event that it is a part of. There is an article with details on the upcoming movie ParaNorman and the trailer for it-- it looks great-- all about being yourself! There is a link to a reader survey so that I can find out how to serve this ever-growing community better. Then we have several articles to celebrate the opening of the Olympics-- from how to stay connected to the events, info on some of the superstars of the events, Olympic trivia and What Elite Athletes Can Teach Our Kids. There are two crafts this week-- a paper Olympic torch, Olympic medals and the "recipe" is how to make an Olympic torch snack

You'll also find the articles with details on the $2 Kids MoviesFarmers Market ScheduleFree Museum Admission for Military Families and Kids Bowl Free below the events list. They will stay there all summer so you can find the info in a flash.

If you're planning an event or know of one I missed, please use the Submit an Event button and tell me about it!

I'd like to remind you to please support our sponsors who make this site possible. Without them, I would not be able to keep doing this week after week-- this newsletter is solely supported by the sponsors, so big thanks to them AND all of you readers! You will find information about the sponsors in the ads on the site, and there are even more businesses listed in the "Biz Directory". The Biz Directory is kind of like the yellow pages for Macaroni Kid readers, but with direct links to the sponsors' websites. If you'd like to see your business info in there, email me for details - lauram@macaronikid.com.

Finally, if you're new here (or haven't read it yet), check out the article on Making the Most of Your Macaroni. There are some helpful tips in there for making this site work for you. I especially LOVE the "My Macaroni" feature. Go ahead and play around with that-- it's great!

And that's the newsletter this week-- have a great week!
