Happy Wednesday Everyone!

We had a very nice week, but who didn't with the fabulous weather?? We spent a lot of time at the park on the slides! We were also very excited for the long-awaited return of the preschool storytime at our library this week and of course, we were NOT disappointed! We LOVE our library! We're going to visit a pumpkin patch soon too while it's still nice out... this week's recipe for dinner in a pumpkin screams "field trip" and if you're going to pick your own pumpkins this year, be sure to check out the tips on finding the perfect pumpkin. If you make the dinner in a pumpkin, let me know how it was!

Now that it's October, it is also Halloween sock season... because I have a ton of them and it's probably going to take me all month to get through them! The picture above is a sample of some of my favorites. I have super cute little ghosts on today! Anyone else have a favorite outfit/accessory for celebrating your favorite holiday? C'mon! I know I'm not the only one!

In honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, all Macaroni Kid websites are sporting a pink ribbon this month and our sponsor Eggland's Best eggs are too! Check out my article about the decked-out eggs below!

The winner of the referral sweepstakes has declined the prize, so she and I have decided to award it to the person who referred the MOST people....... Diana J! Thank you again everyone for sharing the Macaroni with your friends! I've had a variety of jobs over the years, but this one is by far the best "job" ever! There are a lot more areas that need someone to cover the events there, so if you're interested in owning your own Macaroni Kid franchise, check out the article about becoming a Macaroni Kid Publisher!

This week I was happy to welcome The Memory Market to Appleton-Stevens Point MK, so be sure to read all about that little treasure chest right in Stevens Point! We've also welcomed David Oreck Fundraising to our page, so if your church/school, etc are looking for ideas for fundraisers, check out the nice variety of fundraiser gifts to get the Holiday shopping started.

Speaking of Holiday shopping... I would like to put together a Holiday Gift Guide so that Macaroni Kid readers can shop local this year! If you own a business and would like to participate, email me at lauram@macaronikid.com and tell me about your business! I'm still putting all the details to paper, but I do know that there will be just one local rep for each direct sales company in the gift guide, so don't wait to tell me if you want in! I'll add you to the list when you let me know you're interested and send you all the details as soon as I have them! This is a great opportunity to put your name and business right in front of your audience for a great price! And we'll be proudly supporting our communities as we shop from our friends and neighbors! It has been very successful in other Macaroni Kid communites that have done one in the past, so I'm excited to offer it locally!

And the last thing to mention is that October 10th is Columbus Day, so there's a fun little craft to remember that, or to supplement a school lesson.

Have a great week!

Laura

About Halloween events:

There are many Halloween events that will be coming up over the next few weeks. I will be listing these as options for readers to attend, since there is a large age range for all of our kids, but please remember that it is our job as parents to determine if these events are appropriate for our own children/families. I will do my best to note a suggested age range or make a comment if an event might be frightening for small children, but I encourage you to visit the websites for these seasonal events or contact the venue before you attend in order to get a complete picture of what will be happening at the event, especially if you have young children or children who frighten easily.
